When I rendered a 20 minute project, a 30 minute video was made. I was told that I need to put in and out points. Tried “shift” and “control” I and O but it hasn’t worked for me. Any suggestions?

My guess is that there’s a small sliver of something at the very end of your timeline.
Press the FFWD button to make sure that your timeline ends where you think it’s supposed to.
If it doesn’t, highlight and delete everything after the end of your video, save it and try rendering again.

I always create a final “range” around the portion of the video I want to render – giving me a controlled amount of black at the beginning and end. Then I double click on the range and render the looped region only as the render option. Now when I need to render again I always have the same exact rendered loop to work with which defines my total project even if I have some stored footage sitting later in the timeline… sometimes I’ll use the same project for several little videos each with their own render ranges.
