I have a hard to word Vegas question.
Hello, I’m Tyler, and new to video editing. I am a student at the University of Missouri and am on a marketing internship for a custom rifle company.
My task is to create product videos for their rifle, which has presented me with plenty of challenge, which I feel I am handling well, but there is one Vegas task I can’t seem to figure out.
I do picture in picture in the videos when shooting at long ranges:
1) looking at the target from behind me to see the trace of the bullet, and show the distance in relation to what I see
2) looking at me from the side, showing the actual firing of the weapon
3) a close up of the target with a camera right next to it, showing impacts
All these are timed to show several angles of the firing, bullet flying through the air, and hitting the target. My current setup has a lot of dead space on the screen.
When doing picture in picture I want to “cut out” some of the unneeded resolution from each picture, so I can show a larger view of the rifle when firing, and a larger view of specifically the target. Currently I am stuck keeping all footage in 1920×1080 and overlaying it, and using pan/crop to do my best, but I am not pleased.
I would like to be able to use only part of the video in picture in picture so I can rearrange the footage and make more use of the screen, and make footage more viewer friendly. Below is some crude mockups of what I am trying to explain, they were made on my laptop while at work, so go easy! Thanks,
Tyler
