I’ve got a 15-minute 1280×720 project, and everything’s fine, but I’m running into problems when I switch to something else. For example, just closing Vegas takes about ten to fifteen seconds, then if I click on Windows Explorer it kinda sits there and has to build itself. Then, if I re-open Vegas it hangs immediately.

My only workaround at this point is rebooting or logging off and back on. Is there some RAM setting or something that I might have set wrong?

    Go to Preferences and select:
Close media files when not the active application and see if that helps.

Sure sounds like you’re swapping your programs to hard-disk (AKA Pagefile).

Run ‘resmon’ and click on the memory tab while you switch programs. If the “free” memory drops to a few MB or less, then you need more RAM.
