    Hi,

You are using the wrong filter. Fractal Noise & Colorama would do the trick.

Create a solid, apply “Fractal Noise” to it.
    – Set the Noise type to “Block”
    – Set the Fractal Type to “Small Bumps”
    – In the Sub Settings menu, set the “Sub Influence % to (0)
    – Increase the scale property in the transform menu to taste.

    – Now add the “Colorama” effect and make sure that you add a black portion to your color wheel to give you the effect of light switching on & off.

    – Animate the “Phase Shift” located in the Input Phase menu. Done!

    Here is the project:

Thanks Serge for your help but how can I let it be more real?
I mean, for istance, the lights turn on and off not gradually (just on and off), how to make the floor seems more specular..
I tried adding some Glow effects and a little bit of CC light but it still appears too fake.

    Hi Tommaso,

These light effects look way better when done with a 3D program butI just played with the project for a couple of min & think it may help you:

    https://www.nyc-visual.com/disco_floor.zip

Basically, if you want your lights to switch on & off you need to disable the “Interpolate Palette” option for Colorama.

I added a grid using some masks on a black layer to better separate each light.

I hope this will bring you nearer.

    Salut,
    Serge

but how do you create those bumps? You need something like Maya or 3dStudio Max?

    Hi,

Almost any 3D program would create the floor.

Fortunately AE has two 3rd party plug-ins that can deform a layer in 3D:

FreeForm from Digieffects & 3D Warps from Zaxwerks.

    Salut,
    Serge
