  apch codec in vegas

  Guys

  I am having trouble with one particular kind of QT file (.mov) that I have been sent via ftp sites. These are very hi res broadcast quality music videos that we insert into our show weekly. (Syndicated Crook and Chase) Vegas 10 won’t play them. It is apch.

  Here are the specs on the file. I have been told that there is no way for Vegas to read this kind of file. Is that correct?

  That’s Apple proprietary ProRes HQ 4:2:2 stuffed into that Quicktime wrapper. I believe you need Quicktime 7.5 or later installed on your PC, and that will be sufficient to allow editing (but not writing) of this format in Vegas.

  I have not had the need to edit ProRes files myself… I have more often tried to deal with getting Mac users something their Macs are actually capable of editing without going into a coma.
