    Hi all!

I’m having an issue with Vegas at the moment, when I’m playing back footage it seems to run okay until there is a cut. It will slow down slightly then lag behind on playing the next shot and speed up to catch it.

I’ve never had this problem before and I’m running a better system than I’ve had in years. Has anybody had this type of problem before?

    Thanks in advance!

Does the rendered video play OK? If its just on the timeline, try setting the playback quality down a notch. If that fixes it you have a bottleneck in your system. Be sure to update drivers for your video card too.

Run Process Explorer and watch those graphs! Will help id bottlnecks.

In another post someone passed along a great tip – make sure the preview window is set to not scale. Lately I’ve been using the Preview / quarter setting and it has been able to keep up with most routine effects. However, unless you have a screamingly fast graphics card with a great GPU, you won’t get perfect results in preview.

To make sure that a section of a vid will render the way you want, select a short section and use the ” selectively prerender” option under Tools.

Thank you to both of you for your responses.

I had a bit of a play round and sort of got it working a touch better. I’ve just never experienced that particular jarring when it cuts before. It’s either been completely smooth or equally jumpy throughout the entire playback.
