  • Lost “User Guide” (hlp)) from Vegas Studio

Apparently I am not allowed to use the word Help in my subject…….

By way of experiment I installed Studio in a different folder from Studio Platinum. Having found what I wanted I uninstalled it. In the process the Help for Studio Platinum was removed.

Is there a way to reinstate Help? Do I have to reinstall Platinum? Will that lose me a heap of other preferences etc?

    Thanks for any…. help….ark ark

For some reason, the help files are installed to a shared folder that is common to the different versions of Vegas. On my system that folder is C:Program FilesSonyShared Plug-InsHelp Files

I think the help files for Movie Studio regular and Platinum editions are the same, so your probably got removed when you uninstalled the regular Studio.

You can try reinstalling Platinum over the top of the existing Platinum to restore the files, or you might be able to “repair” the installation. I ended up with something similar after uninstalling a trial version.

While this doesn’t fix your problem, you can download manuals from Sony:

    Thanks for the reply.

Yeah it seems a strange idea, but it’s sort of what I figure3d happened.

I reinstalled standard Movie Studio, and that has given me back the Help. But you can’t do a repair AFAICS and you can’t install over the top, because Vegas refuses to do so.

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried that site, but it only allows me to dl the Quick Start Guide for 11 or manuals for older versions.

Does anybody know what happens if I uninstall Platinum? Will I lose all my settings etc. I know I could work out where they all are back them up, but experience tells me that trying to reinstate such backed up stuff after reinstalling the programme often causes bad indigestion for all concerned.

OK. I will answer my own question. I had to uninstall and reinstall VS, and it _seems_ to have kept my settings, like Project Properties etc.

Just in case someone else asks, as nobody seemed to know.
