Vegas Pro bug on laptop
I just installed Vegas Pro 8 on a new laptop running Win 7 64 bit. I installed both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions. I am having a weird bug in both versions. Project setting is 1920 x 1080. I brought in a graphic clip that is 320×240 and selected maintain aspect ratio, but when put on the timeline, the clip is stretched vertically to cover the whole screen. Then after a while of trying to adjust it, the clip becomes unselectable. I can’t even delete it. Any idea what is going on? I have never seen this before. Thanks.

Go to Preferences and under the Editing tab,uncheck
Automatically crop still images added to timeline.
Make sure that both versions of Vegas that you have are the

Thanks for your reply. I am on Vegas Pro 8 and there is no option for automatically crop under Options/ Preferences/ Editing. I can’t select the clip on the timeline either. I can’t delete or modify it. Weird.

Maybe its time you upgrade Vegas for a ton of reasons.

Maybe so. It works fine on my XP box. I don’t use AVCHD.
Never saw the issue about not being able to select a clip.

This is wrong. If it’s on the timeline you should be able to do anything you want with it – that’s the basic nature of editing.
By the way – if it’s on the timeline, it’s an event – not a clip. This is important for two reasons. First, on the timeline, an event points to the media (clip). You can have multiple events on the timeline from one clip. You can trim the event, add a bunch of F/X to the clip, and even pan-crop the event. But you never touch the media (clip). This is non-destructive editing. And you can have more events pointing to the same media with each doing something different from the other events. Second, if you search the help file for “how do I do xyz to a clip”, you won’t find anything.

Yes. I think you are right. I can’t seem to turn off the stretch. I guess a Vegas 11 upgrade is a good idea. Thank you for the info.
