I’m doing some Automatic Dialog Replacement.

    1. Is there any way to change the directory that the wav files are placed in. It asks when I first start but then there doesn’t seem to be a way of changing that directory once I start.

    2. After I make several recordings, I’m finding that the record does not start immediately. It lags behind me pushing the start button. Since I’m trying to replace my dialog I’m not able to talk and match up my dialog.
In other words, I push record and the record does not start immediately.
If I close Vegas and open the project again, it seems to work for a while before I begin getting that lag time.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

#1. You change the directory by going Files > Properties > Audio and changing it to the desired location.

#2. Sorry but I’ve never done any ADR so I can’t help you on that question.

    1) I am pretty sure that if you delete the wav files and remove them from the project Media window, then Vegas will ask again for a target location.

    2) Add a ten-second blank event at the start of the project.

    Hi Stephen,
The recording I’m having to do using the “arm for record” feature is quite far on in the project.
I’m not following… How would adding a blank event to the beginning of the show help. I’m thinking it’s a ram issue or something. Could that be the case.
Is there a hot key to clear ram for instance?

I thought you were recording from the beginning.
Are you listening to the existing audio that you are replacing while you record? just start recording early and trim the start and end of your new audio event to match the original audio length.

To the best of my knowledge, the arm for record doesn’t use any more RAM as you record the WAV files. There’s probably a delay because Windows has to create the output file and start writing data to it. So start recording earlier. Use a new audio track so that you don’t have to think in takes.

That is one option to start earlier but it’s awkward for two reasons.
    1. It means I have to either slide the event just before it back a ways to make room to start again.
    2. And the wave file since it starts late does not correspond to the levels I’m trying to reproduce.

The strange thing is that it works great and starts right up until it’s utilized several times and then it after a few uses, it pauses before it will begin. Very frustrating…
