This only started happening to me recently– it occurred a couple of times a week or two ago, but simply restarting my computer fixed the problem.

In the last few days, however, it’s been happening even after multiple restarts of my computer. Even if I try to render, it stays pink, and if I try to play video events in the track, it stays pink.

I don’t know how to fix this at all– any suggestions?

You had another window that you closed in the space above the timeline. Just drag the top of the timeline up.

    Thanks for the quick response.

As far as I can tell, that doesn’t do anything. It just makes the pink area smaller.

2 things going on here – nothing to do with the sizing.

1] You have your Timeline set to Bottom of the Screen

    AND

2] You don’t have any Control Panes added to that Pink “Docking Area” which IS the Default Docking area – it is ready to receive some controls, like Project Media Pane, or Trimmer or . . whatever.

Yes, yes it does make the pink area smaller. And if you drag the top of the timeline window down, the pink area gets bigger. The pink space is where you had a panel docked then you either undocked it or closed it. Or you could go into the View menu and turn on another control panel and dock it in the pink space. Or you can just make the timeline panel larger.

Try View | Windows Layouts | Default Layout to get all of your panels back. If that doesn’t work, it could be a video driver issue.

    I have found a plan!
So how you do it is to go up to the view bar and enable Video Preview.
And then restart Sony Vegas and boom!
    Problem solved! 🙂
    Hope it helped!

You can also hold the Ctrl and Shift keys down through the whole launching of Vegas to reset it to default. You will get an option to reset to factory during this process.
