    So I’m trying to use these stock clips and I’ve fiddled with the file trying to keep it from stuttering on playback but no luck.

    The project is;

    • 720 x 480
    • 29.970FPS
    • Square Pixel

    The clip is;

    • 1920 x 1080
    • 30FPS
    • Square

    As I mentioned I’ve changed settings etc. but no joy. I’m sure it’s something simple.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ken

    Ken?

    1] What version of Vegas?

    2] First off try using Match Media icon in Project settings.

    3] Stock footage? From where? What CODEC?

    You’ve got some variables that need to be ascertained prior to setting project settings.

    Grazie,

    Thanks for the reply. To answer;

    I will try the “Match Media” setting now.

    Thanks again,

    Ken

    ADD: No joy on the “Match Media” setting. And it’s a .mov file, forgot that first time around.

    No worries.

    Preview may be rough. I beieve you need to have QT installed on the PC. Try rendering out a small bit.

    OK, mixed media projects are tough on processing to Preview. I’d contemplate converting/rendering-out to your Project settings PRIOR to a full edit.

    I have another .mov clip from a different source (Footage Firm) in the project and it plays fine, smooth all the way. I’ve never used Media Match before and I checked the help file so I assume you must select a known file without issues and match it. This is what I did with the aforementioned .mov that works and I saw no change. I’m going to render now and see if there is a difference.

    Ken

    Well I learned a lesson here, not about Vegas but about “assumptions”. I assumed that because the other .mov clip played smoothly in the project, the one in question should also….WRONG!

    After rendering the file plays as smoothly as I could ask for.

    Thanks for the input and the lesson Grazie.
