Plug-In Manager – How to taylor from scratch or at all for that matter
Has anyone ever seen a detailed step by step tutorial on how to use the Plug-In Manager (PIM)?
Now that I’ve got BCC installed my normal method of clicking on the green FX button and selecting a filter takes too much scrolling.
John Rofrano and the Borris folks recommend using the PIM and offer some categories to sort the various FX. However I’m not thrilled with Sony’s default folders either… why do I care if an FX is a from a third party?
So my main question is, when I look at the filters in the PIM, are these “shortcuts” to the filters or the files themselves? I’m guessing some sort of shortcut because you can find the same filter in several folders. I’d prefer to scrap the whole folder structure, create my own, and then plop each filter into the folder I believe it should be in. Maybe even using the Boris recommended folders plus a few more.
Though I don’t see a way of doing what I’d like. I can’t delete existing folders, I can’t drag files into different folders, all that seem not grayed out is create new folder (that I can delete). Is there a way to go into Windows Explorer and find these folders and the “shortcuts” therein, and maybe just reorganize them there?

Wow, tough topic. I’ve tried here and at the Sony Forum and no replies. Is a modification to the Plug-in Manager impossible or just not popular. LOL….

You cannot delete the folders that the plug-in vendor creates but you can create your own folders and move the plug-ins into them. You can also rename the plug-ins. I renamed several of my VST audio plug-ins with a “(32-bit)” on the end of the name of those that are 32-bit so I don’t use them in 64-bit Vegas.
