Vegas pro 11 not rendering sound
Hi,Please help!
I’m, a teacher who has made 3 long movies in three years with my school kids using vegas pro 9.
We’ve just made another one and I’ve upgraded to SVP 11.
However, after rendering the movie, it doesn’t play the sound and only one program (VLC player) can play it. All the others say they don’t recognise the .mxf file.
So I can play the rendered file using VLC player, but I have no sound. But…if I scroll the ‘playbar’ along to another point and allow it to play on, I get sound for about 1 second, and then it’s gone! So there is audio in there, it’s just hidden.
I have used a standard def video camera and my phone which has 720p hi def to shoot the movie so there is a mix of files there, but that was never an issue with version 9.0.
Also, when I go to render, I am unable to select most rendering options, only the ones under the Sony MXF banner. Why’s that?Any help would be very much appreciated.

Why Sony .mxf? I would recommend using Sony AVC and choose one the preset that matches your project settings or desired output. You can render the audio as .aac and adjust the butyrate to the quality you like. It will play in Quicktime or Windows Media Player and most other players.

I actually sorted it by converting the .mxf file to windows media player format using Youtube Downloader. A round-about way of doing things I know but it worked!
In answer to your question, I can’t select any other option other than the .mxf options when I go to render – they’re all there but when I click on one, the render button goes pale i.e. ‘it isn’t an option to choose this.’ Seems strange doesn’t it?
I should point out that I’m a total novice and may be missing something obvious here.
