    Hi All,

Just upgraded to Vegas Pro 11 from studio 9 I have only just started using Pro 11 and am finding that when I drop a clip onto the time line and play it , It is very jerky I even tried the same clip on Architect studio 5 and better but not good , It’s ok if I play the same clip on media player, Any help would be great

    Thanks

What codec is the footage? Vegas does really well with Sony codecs such as XDCAM – not so well with others. Make sure you leave the Preview window quality on Preview (Auto) while working – you’ll get decent quality preview in realtime. I switch it over to Best(Full) when I’m finishing and color timing but am usually parked on a frame and not playing most of the time so I can see full rez. Some faster graphics cards will speed up playback – check the Vegas site for list of qualified boards.

Here is the thread I found when I searched for resolution suggestions on this issue.

    Hi Lance,

I first had to find out what codec even was, Here’s what I know and have done so far.
My camera is a Nikon and uses a SD card the video is full HD and uses MOV format and from what I read I had to covert the clips from MOV to, Some said AV1 so I found a free converter and converted all the clips to AV1, Sony Vegas Pro 11 would not except AV1 , I checked the converter and it will do WMV and that is what my old video camera took and Sony Vegas Pro 11 work well using the WMV so I’m going to try one clip and see what happens.

I would look at the new GoPro/Cineform software – they have a free version which you can use to transcode your Nikon clips into high quality .avi’s that Vegas can understand:

    Hi Lance,

I tried converting MOV to AV1 but Sony Vegas Pro 11 did not like that so I re-converted the AV1 to WMV same as my old video camera and now all’s good , At least I have learnt something and I do like using Sony Vegas I find it very good with very good results.

    Cheers
