  • Vegas 11 64 bit crashes when importing some already rendered mp4 files

Hi guys, I’ve a big problem with Vegas: some clips that I already rendered won’t load in Vegas, making it crashes. I record with a HD PVR in m2ts and when I want to save a clip I import the m2ts file in Vegas and I render it as a mp4 file. It worked until I found that some files won’t load in Vegas. I’m making a video where I need to put togheter some of my clips and everytime I try to import 3 clips that I need to use, Vegas crashes. They’re always the same 3 clips. I’ve also tried to start another project and it still crashes as soon as I drop one of the broken clips in Vegas. Movie Maker won’t read the clips, but Live Movie Maker and Windows Media Player will do it perfectly. What’s wrong with them? Is there a solution?

Are you capturing using variable bitrate? I’d stick with constant bitrate until you isolate the problem. Also I’d use the MP4 recording setup in TME with the HD-PVR. Vegas seems to like MP4’s more then M2TS.

You may need to transcode the problem files to MP4. I’d use the included Arcsoft Media Converter that came with the HD-PVR and use a high bitrate setting at full 1080 resolution.

I use costant bitrate and record in m2ts because I think it’s better for the 360… I will try to convert the mp4 files again, thank you. 🙂

I use costant bitrate and record in m2ts because I think it’s better for the 360… Also I’ve tried to send the broken clips to my girlfriend and they make her Vegas crashes too, but when I sent them to a friend they didn’t make his Vegas crashes. What’s wrong with them?

I’m still investigating. I found that the problem is in the m2ts file and when I render the clip the problem pass from the m2ts to the mp4 file. I’m trying to figure out what the problem is… I tried not to disable resample, not to change the ratio, to render a small clip of 4 seconds instead of a clip of 21 seconds, but the crashes still occour… Any idea?
