  having trouble with mp4 files in sony vegas studio hd 11

  hi there,
  im all new to this camera and editing stuff
  i have a sony nex-3k wich records in mp4 format, everytime i try to use it with vegas it crashes and even in the media player it lags.

  so i tried another camera its a jvc everio avchd wich worked beatiful

  im not sure but i think my nex records in mpeg-4 video and aac for sound

  perhaps its not compatible with studio vegas 11?
  or maybe im missing something
  i even have the latest version of uicktime installed

  Yes it records in MPEG-4 AVC (H.264)) ….Not sure why your
  system have a problem handling this format, it should’nt.
  What are your system specs?

  windows7 ultimate
  intel (R) Core (TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @2.40 Ghz
  4.00 GB (3.00gb usable)
  32 bit operating system

  There are a few flavours of MPEG4, MP4, AVC… all related, but sometimes camera manufacturers have their own quirky implementation that causes problems for software. It could be that the MP4 files from the NEK-3K do not strictly conform to the standard format.

  Do you have any codec packs (video decoders) or extra playback software installed. Codec packs like K-Lite or FFDShow can cause trouble if they take over from the normally installed codecs in Windows or Vegas.

  hey there
  im not sure what codecs are exactly but i know iv installed the latest quicktime
  i have limited knowledge when it comes to these codecs and decoders
  lol sorry

  would u think i could copy and paste one of my mp4 clips here so maybe someone could test it out on there vegas platinum 11?
  or it wont work?
