Is there a setting in DVD Architect that will allow DVDs burned in DVD Architect to open (play) as quickly as commercial DVDS? Slow-opening DVDS imply “home recorded/amateur”. I’m sure this was solved long ago and I missed it. I have an Intel 2.4mhz Quad Core with 4G memory and 1T raid array running Vegas Pro 11.

    Thank you,
    Don

I’ve never had any problems with my “home recorded/amateur” DVDs opening quickly.
Are you using good quality blank media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim?

    Mike,

Just the opposite: my DVD-Architect DVDs open more slowly (at least on first play) than commercial ones. I use Verbatim DVD-R and RW. They take longer to be recognized by the player –at least the first time they are used. Is there a setting I am missing that will make the DVDs easier to “intialize” by players?

    Thanks,

    Don

Don, I used to use Verbatim before switching to Taiyo-Yuden and never experienced any slow loading issues.
RW discs did, for whatever reason, take a bit longer to load.

Out of curiosity, are you using a Blu-ray player these days?
My experiences (and that of a lot of other users) is that they are a LOT slower at opening any DVD, regular or Blu-ray.

Thank you for your reply. I am not using Blue-Ray yet. I will switch to the DVDs you recommended. Love this forum. Very helpful!

    Thanks,

Don, just an FYI on blank media.
I use the “Watershield” Taiyo-Yuden instead of their cheaper offerings.
They cost a bit more but the excellent print quality (I use a Canon Pixma iP4700) is worth it.
