Vegas Stuck @ 0% project loading
hi guys:
first of all, i’m from Chile, so english is not my native language
here we go:
i’m making a fragvideo, but at the same time, i’m participating in a movie contest..so yeah i started working on this project about 3 days ago, everything going good…but today i had a weird problem with vegas, everytime i want to load the project, it stuck at 0% for like 5-10 mins, then it changes to 1% and vegas crashes(not responding and forces me to close it by ctrl+alt+supr), no error message.
i tried almost anything, from changing the location of some project files, reinstalling vegas, reboot my PC, but nothing, nothing happens and for the love of god i don’t want to loose this project, because is very important for me.other projects i had, they load perfectly, but this one in particular has that issue, it’s super weird because i was working on it yesterday without problems.
so i came to you guys, maybe you could help me to fix this thing out
btw, im using vegas 9.0e 32-bit version

What format are your source videos? if they are not a format that edits easily (like DivX/Xvid, etc.) you may need to convert them to another format.

Try renaming the video files themselves directly, and when
you open the project in vegas, it ask for the missing files,
you then select them each. It might be time consuming,
but its worth it if this project is that important….. I cant
guarantee success, but i hope that helps your project gets back
on track.(also try reinstalling all your vegas plugins

@ John: for fragvideos i always use uncompressed avi format, never had problems with it
@ Steve: i tried that today and the project loaded correctly, i worked with it, saved it…BUT when i wanted to open it again…the same problem happened
i really don’t know what’s wrong with vegas, maybe it’s some hardware issue..or who knows. one thing i noticed is when i want to import some media to a “x” project, when i click on the avi file it freezes for 10 seconds.

Uncompressed video is very difficult to work with because of it’s size and demands on your hard drive. Unless you have a RAID 0 array, I’d stay away from using uncompressed. You might want to use a codec like Lagarith, Huffyuv, or M-JPEG which should produce smaller files and still maintain good quality.
