A polling question for all you experienced users: What is the best long term way to archive Vegas projects, both the finished rendered footage plus the project and its media? I have been putting my finished HD projects back to tape. Not ideal. Is bluray a reliable enough archive? Multiple DVD’s? What do you guys with a large number of projects do?

I start with a master folder that contains sub-folders with EVERYTHING used in the project, no matter how big or small.
If it’s media I already have on my hard drive, I make a copy of it and keep it in this folder.
When I’m done, this folder gets backed up to an external hard drive.
Some users back it up to multiple hard drives and keep one off site in case of fire, flood, theft, etc.

I am the same as Mike, ‘cept everything, including any original media, is in a folder in my “projects” folder. From time-to-time I sync this folder to a separate hard disk drive. When the project is done, the I do one final sync to the external drive and it goes into a drawer for long-term storage.

At any time in the next few years, all I need do is drop the HDD into an external dock and open the VEG file, and the project is as I last used it.
