  • Swapping parents at a certain point?

Posted by Nicolas Hansen on May 24, 2009 at 6:03 pm

    Hello,
I was wondering if there is any way to swap parents at a certain time. I have 2 Null layers, Null 2 starts right where Null 1 stops. I’d like to have objects parented to this “Dual-Null setup”
I know I can split the layers and Parent them to each null, or combine the 2 Nulls into one, but I’d prefer to leave the setup how it is and parent object to both Nulls.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks!

    Hi Nicolas,

You could parent null 1 to null 2. If null 2 doesn’t move until null 1 is finished, parenting objects to null 1 will mean they follow null 1 until null 2 begins, after which they will effectively be following null 2.

    This what you meant?

Yes I’ve split the tracks before and Simon is correct also. If I split the tracks I change (group) their colors in the timeline to avoid confusion and I wear out my SHY switches to keep down the clutter.
