Asking the same question here I’ve seen dozens of times before but I can’t seem to understand what’s going on. I just pulled footage into the timeline from the following cameras, a Sony AX2000 AVCHD and an FX1 at HDV 1080i. All at 1080/60i. The AVCHD files play and edit fine. But the footage from the FX1 studders and skips in the preview screen. Looks fine in playback on the camera though. I expected the AVCHD files to give me problems. Not the ones from tape. Do I need to convert these files first to make the editing process easier? Will I see this in the final product? I plan on burning to DVD.

    Thanks in advance.

You wont see it in the final product after rendering.
I use the Dynamic ram preview as i edit along whenever
i have a stuttering timeline. That extra process of converting
media first, then edit, i have always hated.
    It wastes so much time.

    Thanks Steve,

I’ve heard mention of the Dynamic Ram preview before. Can you explain how to do that?
