I have a Toshiba I-7 computer with 8Gb ram and an N-vidia card that I have Vegas Pro 11 runinng on. I have an 8 minute project ready to render and I promised the client a DVD today.

When I clicked the “render as” botton I got the “render as” dialog page filled with little blank squares! After several restarts it is still filled with these machine language squares. Everything else seems to work fine.

I have been a Vegas Pro customer since Version 3 and have purchased multiple licenses for every version since. I have purchased their annual service plans in the past, but they are now expired. I would be willing to purchase another annual plan, but they no longer offer an annual plan…only a 6 month plan for the same price!

Since I just bought the version 11 upgrade last week, along with the fact that I have been a loyal customer for a decade, I asked if someone could please assist me with this one issue so I could get a DVD to my client. The answer…NO, would you like to buy a service plan? I said that I would consider it if I could buy the annual plan as I had before. The answer…NO. I was reluctantly given to supervisor “Kevin” (he refused a last name) who read from the same script!!

Having just purchaed this new version, and the fact that I have been a long time customer, I don’t feel that I was asking for too much.

If anyone has experienced this render window problem I sure would like to know how you got it resolved. Thanks in advance for hopefully giving me a hand.

Memo to Sony:…You have really PISSED ME OFF!!!

I have not had that problem. Sounds like either the string resources in program are corrupted or something is strange with the language/region setting you computer is reporting.

I would fully uninstall and install the new build 424 (32 bit) or 425 (64 bit). I doubt it is just the launguage setting as you only have a problem with the one dialog.

Your experience with Sony Vegas support mirrors mine. They really are clueless. I get much better “support” from the Sony Creative forums, and/or here on the Cow.

It takes Sony weeks to answer a free support ticket, and the response is either wrong, or a lame request for more information.

Clearly, Sony Creative does not give a rodent’s behind about post-sale support. But, if you all the “buy” line, they answer right away.

I had already installed the update so I doubt that is the problem

I am still upset that after paying for the VP11 upgrade last week, that they expect me to pay another $150.oo to talk to someone about trying to make it work!!!

I will uninstall tonite and see what happens. I know that to completly uninistall it I will have to do some manual deletes. If anyone has the list of those folders/files and a “how to” I’d sure appreciate it

    Thanks again

If Vegas Pro 11 is anything like Vegas Pro 9 and 10, you don’t need to uninstall it. I run both 9 and 10 without difficulty. Just make sure that you create a new copy of the older projects before you open then in the newer version.

Hope this helps. I’m about to go for the upgrade, just want to stay current even though I’ll probably continue to run 10 for quite a while.

I won’t bother paying for their support line. I’ve found Creative Cow much more useful. And the email answers that Sony sends me are usually completely wrong when it’s stuff that in the time it took to get a response, I found a solution, as with the case of my avi.dll error.

I plan on making a video on Youtube about how crappy Sony’s product and service can be.

The odds are very good that the problem is in your PC. Possibly a corrupt icon cache. Look here for a solution: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html
