my video is 1280×720 and after upload media to vegas changes to 720×480 in project bin. Project window to right indicates 1280×720 as my project properties set to HDV 720-24p (1280×720, 23.976 fps) How can I get my video in project bin to say 1280×720 that will remove the black bars on the sides of my videos. (I think) New user thanks for the help. Under new project I have been selecting Internet Video – Project Internet HD 24p? I am trying to upload videos from HD PVR to youtube and never get 1280×720. I always end up with bars. Thanks for any help!

Are you sure that your video is 1280×720? The HD PVR records in both 1280×720 and 720×480 so you may have recorded in the wrong format. Try a utility like MediaInfo or GSpot and see what they think the file is. Chances are, it’s not 1280×720 otherwise Vegas would have detected it..

also using wmv playing the file after HDPVR captures, it is full screen but after import to Vegas it changes. I just bought this its Vegas 11 and not sure if that matters.

What do you mean by “upload”? What are you doing? Do you mean “import”?

What happens if you just drag the file to the Vegas timeline from the Windows filesystem?

I did mean import. Same if I drag or double click. HD PVR Set to 1280×720 and my computer shows details on my recordings as 1280×720 but Vegas sees it as 720×480 each time. Vegas has crashed a few times on me recently.
    This may be my problem….
When I click on new project and it asks video and project details. (video:AVCHD,HDV,DV,Internet Video,Match media settings) and Project I think I may be choosing wrong one. Using HD PVR trying to put HD gameplay on youtube. files are MP4 and 1280×720.

You should be choosing the HDV 720-30p (1280×720, 29.970 fps) project template. You can also use Match Media Settings:
