Uninstall and Reinstall Sony Vegas Pro 9
Posted by Rennie Cluver on October 4, 2011 at 12:01 amI have been having trouble with Sony Vegas not letting me open certain projects to where it just shuts down and it is getting very frustrating. Is there anything wrong with uninstalling the program and reinstalling? Will this effect any current vegas projects (i have them saved to an external drive right now)? I have thought about purchasing an external RAID 2TB drive to help share the load but I should have plenty computer to do the things I want to do. Any thoughts?

October 4, 2011 at 3:06 amAre you using the latest version of 9 pro? Is there an associated error message with the shutdown? Have you tried reporting the issue to Sony?

October 4, 2011 at 7:41 pmNot sure…I bought it a few years ago. Sony Vegas Pro 9 build 563. And yes I have sent a message to Sony but no reply as of yet.

October 4, 2011 at 7:58 pmThere’s no need to uninstall, just reinstall. But first, what is “it” in “it just shuts down”. The PC, the program, the room lights, your cat? And is there any error message or other symptoms?
Something you can try first: Hold CTRL-SHIFT when you click on the Vegas icon. This does a “reset” of all Vegas parameters.

October 4, 2011 at 9:49 pmDifferent times it will just say Vegas is Not Responding and it will never respond. Other times it I get a report that Vegas had a problem and has to shut down (not exactly what it says so next time it does it I will write it down). I am trying to add a fairly simple project (1min 30 sec) to another project 3mins long and it runs into a problem everytime. Maybe I am not doing something right when it comes to the project properties but I need Vegas to allow me to make 30 min DVDs or my business cannot function. I had a previous post a week or so ago detailing all my computer info and how I had set up the Vegas files on my computer if that helps. I did the control shift as you suggested and it did seem to allow the projects to load quicker but I tried importing a project into another and it is not responding again.

October 5, 2011 at 1:49 amIt sounds like you have a problem with your PC. Both of the errors you listed are from Windows, not from Vegas.
Is this a new symptom or has it always behaved this way?
