It’s about time I checked in to see if anyone as figured out the workflow so that I can add Closed Captions on the Vegas timeline and render them to be burned onto a standard def 16 x 9 DVD.

The first part is easy enough. I can add the captions, and the captions play on the Vegas preview monitor.

I can export a valid SCC file.

But no captions appear on my TV when the DVD is burned from this render.

    Where am I going wrong?

[Larry Brewer] “But no captions appear on my TV when the DVD is burned from this render.”

I believe that Line 21 captions are stored in a special location on the DVD disc and are only supported for Region 1 discs and Vegas Pro/DVD Architect does not support this. So you are not doing anything wrong. It just isn’t supported.

Try doing subtitles. The subtitles work for me.
