[John Gregoriades] “Are there benefits/disbenefits to using 24fps?”
You will get the benefit of having the same cadence that is used in film. This will also result in the disadvantage of learning how to shoot 24p because you can’t just swing the camera around like you did at 30fps because the image will stutter. So there are trade-offs in using a frame rate that is slower then you are use to.
[John Gregoriades] “Will Vegas handle the 24fps video clips?”
Yea, no problems there.
[John Gregoriades] “What will be the output in terms of picture quality, visibility, stability etc. (in Standard NTSC DVD disks) if the original is shot at 24fps?”
The quality is the same and if anything it may look less stable because of the slower frame rate. If you plan to make an NTSC DVD it will get rendered back to 29.970fps but the 24p cadence will still be there.
The whole point of shooting 24p is to try and make your video look more like film. If you are not interested in that, then there’s no point in using it.
