Editing on Vegas Pro (
I was a previous user of Avid Liquid, but I’ve been using Vegas Pro 9 for a few years now. I am constantly frustrated in that I can not figure out how to lengthen the time line so that my clips (of which there are many) can easily be edited. I have separated a very complex video into A & B lines, but that does not seem to help. Can anyone help me on this?

The timeline in Vegas is infinite. There is no need to “extend” it. Just keep dropping clips at the end of the timeline and Vegas will continue to create events that extend the timeline’s length. If you dropped a 100 files from the windows explorer, Vegas would create 100 events on the timeline and extend it for the duration of the sum of all events.

You can also grab an event and move it far right till you get your proper timing space and this way you extend your Vegas timeline and the software will remember it even if you delete your event.
I do this on a regular basis when I work on large projects, expanding my timeline and inserting markers and regions and then filling in the timeline with events.

That’s good to know. I guess it makes sense when you think about it. The timeline ends when you run out of timecode! 🙂

There is a limit on the timecode but as you can see in my work session, I have expanded my timeine to over 100 hours.

I wonder, can Vegas render the entire 100-hour project?

I haven’t tried rendering a total 100 hours but it will render anywhere on the timeline.
That has been my workflow for many years. I usually have a second and third Vegas session opened side by side, copying and pasting b-roll from other Vegas projects.
IMO nothing beats Vegas for editing, it is so flexible…

I hve been using Vegas 10 pro for my video projects. Till today, I had no problem importing my collection of mp3 files as an auxillary audio track as a background. Today, I could not open any of my mp3 files. The program kept displaying an error message saying” such and such a file could not be opened”. Error not determined. Please help.
