    Hi,
I cannot update my DVD Arcitect 5.0 to 5.2. When I download the update and open DVD Architect it wants a serial number that starts different than the one I own. It acts as if it’s a new installation instead of being an update. I am positive that I tried this under the update area on the Sony Vegas site. I have tried 3 times. Is anyone else having this problem? If so, could you please let me know how can I get around this? Your help would be most appreciated. Thanks, Ray

I had no problem doing the update.
Maybe you got a bad download?
There are two different places to get it from.
One is the official download site and the other is the Sony archive.

DVDA 5.2 came as part of the update package from say VP9 (or earlier) to VP10. New serials were provided for VP10 & DVDA5.2.

If you get DVDA5v2 up and running & then uninstall DVDA5v0 you will take out DVDA5v2 as well and need to reinstall DVDA5v2.

    I believe DVDA5v2 is an upgrade not a revision/update.

You should not ever have to remove any SCS products to install updates.

Yeah – I got a Win 7 machine and had to re-install all software – upgraded my purchased DVD Architect 4.5 to 5.0 (no problem) than ran into the same problem that you did trying to upgrade 5.0 to 5.2 (I have Vegas 8.0 which upgraded to 8.0c and then 8.1 – no problem)
I guess Sony Creative considers the 4.5>5.0 ‘upgrade’ not to be ‘official’ enough (meaning purchased) for upgrade to 5.2 – generally speaking – their upgrade instructions aren’t very helpful that way (meaning the don’t tell you what prior versions can upgrade)- just trial and error.
Maybe wait until 6.0 comes out then just buy an upgrade…if you need it
