  Sony Vegas HD 11 vs Vegas Pro 10 (speed for x64)

  Hey everyone,

  First post here but I have been reading a lot of your video editing discussions. So here is my quick story.

  Bought PowerDirector9, fast as hell, but for my more professional videos (dvds) that need more touch up, I am using Sony Vegas 11 HD. Currently I am using the trial, and I just want to know, a few things before I buy.

  Does the fact that Vegas Pro 10 is x64 make it that much faster then adding effects and exporting video? Currently it is about a 1:1 (30 minutes to export a 30 minute video with transitions, effects, etc) ratio for exporting mpeg2 and mp4 videos. Does that sound right for a 2.8ghz i7? Obviously there is no video card acceleration, sadly.

  I did try adobe premiere, but Vegas seemed a lot easier to use with the effects and interface.

  Vegas Pro 10.0 64-bit will not edit or render any faster but it will allow you to use more memory which may allow you to edit larger projects or manipulate projects faster because more memory will be available. It also allows more memory for Dynamic RAM Preview. I believe that Vegas Pro might also take advantage of more cores than the Movie Studio version. You can download the trial of Vegas Pro and compare for yourself. The difference on your PC might not be work the price but only you can determine that.
