  movie studio platinum 9.0b crashes or hangs on vista pc

  I just switched from a xp box to a vista box. Movie studio platinum worked well on the slower xp machine. I am experiencing freezes or program crashes on the new vista pc particularly while loading files into the editor (I am working with earlier projects that worked fine in the past).

  1. I am running as administrator
  2. version 9.0b build 92
  3. 32bit OS, Intel 2 quad cpu q6600 2.4ghz, 2gb ram

  Anybody have a list of recommended fixes?

  Windows 7.

  Seriously, Vista is the second worst OS that Microsoft ever released in the wild.

  Thanks for the reply, and yes, I’m 4 days into using vista and thinking it is quite the turd.

  So, let me ask you. Do you think that doing the fairly simple upgrade to windows 7 would have a reasonable chance of clearing up my software problems with my movie editor?

  I really like to spend my time creating stuff, not fixing software gliches.

  I strongly recommend a fresh install. Not an upgrade. In fact, buy a new HDD (you can get a 1Gb disk for around $50 now) Set aside your current boot drive and install Windows 7 from zero. Microsoft endorses a process where you can make a fresh install from an upgrade disk. First, install it as a demo by NOT providing the product key when asked. Then run the install again and this time, provide the key.

  You can install the old boot drive as a data disk to gain access to anything stored there.
