  Problem with Gradient Color Change When Import from Illustrator to After Effects

  Hey Everyone,

  I’m having a problem importing some vector graphics created in Illustrator into After Effects. Some of the gradients are changing from color to white (can download jpg here https://www.sendspace.com/file/97cl4a to see what I’m talking about.) Tried changing around the color space but it didn’t work.

  Any ideas?

  Wouldn’t it be possible to post the AI file instead of a JPEG? That way I could take a look and see what’s going on.

  I already changed the gradients in the pig illustration I posted before but here is another one that I’m having problems with. The “nose” and eyebrows of the pig are coming out white.

  Hello, Eric.
  It was a tricky one, but I think I figured it out (of course, it’s human nature to consider the app is “broken” and I was very close to reaching that conclusion!).
  It turns out, one of the color stops in each of these gradients was set to use a spot color (Pantone) instead of a process (RGB) color. And of course, one shouldn’t blame AE for not handling inks, right? 🙂
  If you edit each of these gradient stops so they use process colors, there will be a very slight shift but then it will render identically in AE.

  Wow, that was a tricky one. I’ll give it a try. I had never used the Pantone colors before but I thought they were just a set of colors rather than being a different types of color.
