    Hello all,

Video Newbie here. I Have been mixing & recording audio for about 18 years; the digital platform I`ve used the last 10 years has been Steinberg Nuendo. I am making the transition to video editing and very much like Vegas and its audio mixing capabilities.

I am, however, having problems using my HUI with Vegas. It is just not working. When I perform a scan in the configure mackie window vegas does not see it. The HUI also does not respond when Vegas is operating and the External Controller tab is selected – the two do not seem to be communicating. Yet when I select a Generic controller as a device and select learn, it does populate the fields when I click on any of the HUI buttons. To be clear, I am using the original mackie HUI via MIDI. I have even bought a new Roland MIDI/USB port in case it was an issue with my Layla24 sound card. I’ve also read the relevant parts of the Vegas user manual and Douglas Spotted Eagle’s Vegas Workshop to no avail.

I am wondering if anyone on this forum has [or knows people who have] successfully used the original Mackie HUI with Vegas Pro? Any recommendations? Perhaps I’m better off selling the HUI and acquiring a MCU Pro?

I have done a search on this forum regarding Vegas and HUI and have read a multitude of posts, none of which have appropriately addressed this particular issue. So I thank you in advance for your time and consideration and welcome any and all suggestions/advice.

    Cheers,
    RobF

    Hi Rob:

I am in the same boat as you.
A few years ago someone showed me a program called WiseMix, but it didn’t seem to work that well…

I haven’t really checked it out since.
I have written on the Sony Vegas forums about HUI support and they claim that no one else wants it. If you would be so kind as to post this on their Vegas audio forums, maybe they’d start to listen…

    Cheers,
    C
