Beta SP recording deck with sony vegas
Posted by Frank Stevn on June 13, 2011 at 12:25 pmI understand that it is not very logical to buy a SD deck, but I need to deliver to properly deliver to local tv.
Is it possible to print to tape in Beta SP recording deck from sony vegas pro10 64, i7-PC?
What pc card should I use to print to tape?
Any ideas about what Beta SP deck to buy?
I am thinking about a used ‘PVW 2800 Beta SP’ or ‘UVW-1800’. Is that correct?Ever Giron replied 14 years, 11 months ago 4 Members · 8 Replies -

June 13, 2011 at 1:20 pmYes it is, you will need some type of analog input with component in/out to be able to do this….Blackmagic makes several…

June 13, 2011 at 10:16 pmThe Intensity Shuttle works great, but BM is very specific on the MB Chipset and USB 3 bandwidth.

June 13, 2011 at 11:23 pmSo the Intensity Pro Card can print to tape from Sony Vegas to the PVW 2800 Beta SP recording deck.
Is this the card?: (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/495426-REG/Blackmagic_Design_BINTSPRO_Intensity_Pro_HDMI_and.html)

June 13, 2011 at 11:55 pmFrank. Yes, that’s the card. It comes with a breakout cable for your analog ins and outs. Yes you can print to tape from Vegas, but not in the way you can to a DV camera or deck. There’s no device control for that Deck, so you’ll have to start it recording and then play the video. you should probably render it out so Windows media player or Vegas has full preview rate since you’ll be recording it analog.
Here’s one of those decks on Ebay for $500

June 14, 2011 at 2:41 amYou can also use Media Express that comes with the BM cards…that works well, however it requires limited formats that are uncompressed, so be aware the file sizes are nuts!

June 14, 2011 at 2:47 amThe Intensity card and Shuttle, with Media Express can capture as Motion JPEG avi to one 7200 rpm drive, a raid array is needed for the 8 and 10 bit uncompressed. I use the Shuttle to capture straight from the imager of my HDV camera, bypassing the .m2t compression. The quality is defently superior to HDV 1080i. I use the MJPEG and the quality is very good.

June 14, 2011 at 7:02 amI’m also planning on getting a used Sony UVW-1800 for infomercials I need to deliver to TV stations. I just checked the Intensity Pro card and noticed under System Requirements that does not show Windows 7. Does that mean it will only work with the windows systems they listed? Which are Windows XP Pro SP2, XP Pro x64, Server 2003 Enterprise SP1, Server 2003 Enterprise x64
