Canon VIXIA media (.MTS) & Vegas Movie Studio HD Plat.
Just wanted to share my experience in working with SONY Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum rel. 10. I shoot video with a Canon VIXIA HF S100 at 1920×1080, Canon quality setting: ‘MXP’ (24 Mbps), Frame Rate: Canon PF24 (progressive 24fps). The camera generates AVCHD files with a file extension of .MTS. I process the media with Cineform’s NeoScene rel. 5.5.1 which creates .AVI files that I place on the Vegas Movie Studio timeline. I edit and then render files for upload to You Tube using the Sony AVC codec at full 1920×1080, 25fps. To my eye, the 25fps appears less ‘stuttery’ when played over You Tube (as opposed to 30fps).
For loading onto the Apple iPod Touch, I render Sony AVC files at a resolution of 640×480 *BUT* I’ve found that the framerate needs to be 30fps.
For upload to Facebook, I render Sony AVC files at a resolution of 640×360 at 30fps.
