CS4 = The whole spectrum of crashes…
I can’t believe how crappy this version is… (and yes I have the recent 9.0.1 update)
I get complete crashes for:
-Copying an effect and trying to paste it to another layer/shot.
-Trying to make a simple comp
-Randomly having the infamous “Can’t create Gworld” of which no one
ever found why this happens (I’m on XP btw) with the additional
buffer error warning.
-A few others I can’t remember since the program disappears before I
can even know what happened.
-And drumroll : now I’ve just gotten the laziest/unprofessional AE
error message : “Strange Situation”…I’ve tried tons of memory/multiprocessing configurations, and if it’s not one bug, it’s another…
Anyone had these? Any suggestions?

Hum… If this is the case, then it would be very unfortunate… When I bought that computer I went against my gut to buy Intel processors (which I always did prior to that), and decided to to follow the advice of an IT guy at my previous job.
But could a processor be the single source of this vast amount of crashes?

Absolutely. Having listened to an IT guy myself when I built my last PC – I had AMD processors and problems with previous builds of AFX and when I switched back to Intel (on my Windows box) they disappeared.
Now I’m primarily on a Mac but when I did Windows, the AMD processor was flaky.

Checked a few posts there and I think that maybe I either don’t have enough RAM or maybe not enough (or good enough) CPU power… But at the same time I wonder why such “stupid” crashes would occur just because of that… I might just try to buy more RAM, which cannot hurt, otherwise I’ll downgrade to my CS2 which was way more stable. I hate to do it, but I have to finish this project.
Thanks for your help, and BRIAN as well. I’ll definitely go back to Intel next time, which unfortunately won’t be anytime soon…
