I can’t move the scenes in the timeline
Posted by Jack Rioux on May 6, 2011 at 8:20 amHi from France everybody 🙂
I can’t move anymore my scenes in the timeline. As soon as I separate them from my sequence the scenes come back to there initial place like a magnet.
Could you please help me to solve this.
Thanks a lot

May 6, 2011 at 12:19 pmDear Mike,
Unfortunaltely, auto ripple has not solved my problem. Everything else is working well except this “magnet” trouble in the timeline…
Any other options ?
Very sincerely,
Lasourie

May 6, 2011 at 4:41 pmF8 command doesn’t help.
I noticed a thin blue horizontal arrow right at the top of the timeline and above the scenes when I try to separate them without success.

May 6, 2011 at 5:03 pmLasourie, that line is just Vegas telling you how much you’ve moved an event so it’s nothing to worry about.
Are you on Vegas Pro or one of the various Movie Studio versions?
I’m having troubles trying to figure out your problem as I don’t recall ever seeing it before.
For sake of discussion, you have events A, B and C laid out in that order on the timeline.
What you’re saying is that if you try and move event B anywhere else on the timeline, it automatically jumps back to its original location as soon as you let go of the mouse.
Is that correct? -

May 7, 2011 at 8:02 amGood morning Mike,
The version is : Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9.0a (build 85)
Your description of the symptom is exactly what happens.
If it can helps, I was using the “camera” fonction (the floppy disk symbol at the right top of the preview screen) using the j,k,l, touch of my keyboard to go frame by frame more precisely before the kind of magnet effect happens the day after.
All the best,

May 7, 2011 at 4:11 pmLasourie, nothing you’re doing should result in this very strange behaviour.
What I would strongly suggest is upgrading to the newest version (it’s free) of your product.
According to the Sony site, it’s at 9.0b
Do that first and see if it solves your problems.
