  Noise Dilemma – Why is my footage noisier in Vegas?

  Hi guys.

  So I have some Canon 550d/T2i footage and on the camera it looks great! I can look very carefully and examine the detail and noise.
  But when I import it to vegas it seems to be a lot noisier.

  I don’t know if this is of any use, but when the Pixel Format of a project is set to 32 bit floating point (full range), with linear compositing gamma it is even more noisy and the colours are darker.
  When it’s set to 8 bit or 32 bit floating point (video levels) it’s more natural colour but there’s still definitely more noise of some sort!

  I can eradicate the noise using the Neat Video plugin, but that doesn’t explain why it emerges in the first place, and it means I have to compromise potential detail.

  I’d appreciate any advice/help/suggestions!

  My guess would be that the noise is there, but the camera’s screen being smaller and designed to “look good” does not show the full amount of noise as you see in Vegas when it is brought up to “full resolution”…Another thought, are you able to view is “Best” or is your preview another setting? If you are viewing anything other than Best Full, you are not getting true resolution….just my two cents anyway….
