How can I actually cut parts of a video out, not just split the ends off?
Normally whenever I need to cut a part out of a clip, I can select the part I want and hit trim, or just split it, and delete the beginning and end. However it never really cuts it there, because if I drag the ends, it comes right back. Many times this is good, however is there any way I can actually cut just that part out in a way that if I were to drag an end, it would just start repeating, rather than restoring the previously trimmed off part?
The main reason I’m asking, is I’m making a project involving a velocity envelope. Its going to have one clip, split into 3 parts. The first part will be regular speed, the last part will be about 10x speed, and the middle part will be gradually increasing from 1x to 10x speed. I plan to do that with the nesting method of applying multiple velocity envelopes. However I know every time I apply a velocity envelope I’ll have to resize it. In my experimenting this simply does not work right, because it seems even though the ends are trimmed off, the velocity envelope is still being applied to them, and things are not resizing correctly. I’d like to find a way to eliminate this problem without having to re-encode the clip each time.
