Adding additional multicam to a project
Posted by Roger Bansemer on April 7, 2011 at 5:58 pmI have a multicam project going. I have shot more footage and want to use multicam with that new footage. How do I add this additional footage as multicam footage to a project as I don’t get the “create multicam track” option?

April 7, 2011 at 7:12 pmShoulda used Ultimate S or infinitiCam :p
I don’t use Sony’s multicam (so my “cool trix are limited), but I believe you could render to new, then add another cam from that point, using the new content over the render as a take. Conversely, what happens if you duplicate a track and add new as a take?

April 7, 2011 at 7:19 pmFirst make a backup of your veg file.
You have to “un-multicam” your existing multicam track. When asked to preserve takes, I say “No” then you can add the new camera to a new track.
I am sure there’s a more elegant way to handle this, but the Multicam track uses “takes”, and I’ve never mastered takes.

April 7, 2011 at 8:19 pmOk, just did this with four, adding a fifth. PITA.
As mentioned, save project.
Unmulticam it.
Add new cam. you can preserve takes if you wish, but this will create other, new problems.
Add new track. Add new video
Re-enable multicam.Sony assumes you know all your cam tracks in advance. Ultimate S and infinitiCam don’t make these assumptions.

April 8, 2011 at 10:32 amI have not used Infiniti-cam but it sounds good and I probably should get it but if Vegas does the job I sometimes hate to get yet another program that I have to learn and remember. I’ve also had trouble with plug-ins in the past where they don’t work in a new version of Vegas and on occassion I’ve had plug-ins actually keep my project from loading if the plug-in isn’t installed.
That and I’m trying to keep my budget on track. -

April 8, 2011 at 10:38 amI’m going to give this a try. I’ll have to look up on how to unmulticam it first. Even when using Vegas constantly, if I haven’t used a feature in a while it evades me as to accomplish it. Thank goodness for the forum.
