  • Pan/Crop – cannot rotate, different behaviour

    Vegas 10 pro

My pan/crop window is showing different properties depending on which clip I am in.

I have two video events on the one track, and when I go into the pan/crop windows on the first, I have lost most of the options (right click on the first is missing all the ‘match aspect…’ options) whilst the second event has all the usual options.

I have tried changing tracks, using different clips etc, and it does not seem to make a difference.

All the clips were supplied to me as AVI, and when I originally added them to the timeline I was able to e.g. change aspect to match the properties, but now I cannot on some. it seems that once it happens to a clip, all I can do is delete the clip and re-add it – then everything is fine – but this is a real pain if I have added effects/key frames etc…

Example of pan/crop window with ‘different’ options:

As you can see the resize/rotate tool is not showing, and the properties window on the LHS has a bunch of different options…

Example of pan/crop with all options present:

Any suggestions/thoughts as to what is causing this would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

[Stewart Bourke] “As you can see the resize/rotate tool is not showing, and the properties window on the LHS has a bunch of different options…”

That’s because you have the Mask keyframe track selected on the bottom instead of the Position keyframe track. Look at the two pictures. Look at the bottom area with the two keyframe tracks. See what’s highlighted in blue in the picture that works vs the picture that doesn’t.

Pan/Crop has a dual function and selecting one of the tracks places it into that mode and changes the options as well.

    John,

Thanks for that. I was looking in all the preferences/settings – never saw that… Trying to make it too complicated again..
