Sound problems
Hello first off let me tell you that I am brand new to adobe after effects I bought it last weekend. I have adobe cs4 and using windows vitsa.
I shot a quick video this week and put it on my laptop and played it though media player and the sound was there. I then open the video in after effects and previewed the video and there is no sound.
How do you get the sound to play in the video in after effects? Im sure its probably something simple I forgot or just did not know to do.Thanks for the help.

Playing back footage by hitting the spacebar will not play back audio. To preview video and audio, press the 0 key on the numeric keypad (on the right side of your keyboard).
To preview ONLY audio (not video), press the period (.) key.

I have one more question about this. My friend also has after effects but his computer does not have the keypad on the right side of his laptop and the 0 button on the top does not work. What should he do in this case to have videos playback with sound?

I have just exported from Premiere CS4 a timeline qicktime movie to a comp in After Effects CS4 – the wave form shows on the time line – but no sound plays – nothing is muted – checked both at time line and ramp -sound turned up on Mac etc
Any suggestions?

What, exactly, are you doing to “play”? Are you using RAM preview?

Yes Ram preview – nothing is muted – timeline shows wave form – but no soun can be heard – computer is playing sound – all mutes checked –
