As a new user of editing software, I have now had a chance to have a good look at Vegas from a creative point of view.

Among other graphics, I’m interested in creating some simple titles such as a solid black background with a thin blue line horizontally bisecting the background, with titles placed either side of this blue line. I may be wrong but I can’t see how Vegas can create such a graphic.

So, is there other graphic software that I can use to create graphics and then import them to Vegas?

    You mean like this?

That’s easy to do right in Vegas. Just use a Generated Media Color Gradient. I would look at the Linear, Blue-Green Title Bar or Fancy Wooden Board preset as a starting point just to get an idea of how to accomplish this.

Yes. that’s exactly what I’m looking for, thanks. Obviously, I don’t know the program. But is there a software program that is widely used for creating graphics that are then imported into Vegas, or is the program comphrehensive enough that little importing is done?

Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are probably the most widely used graphics programs depending on whether you want vector or raster graphics. You could use any program that can output JPG, PNG, BMP, TGA, or TIF format (which is pretty much any graphics program available) and Vegas can import it.
