Normally in Vegas, when you click anywhere on any track in the timeline, it moves the marker to that point. I want Premiere Pro behavior, where clicking on a clip in the timeline only selects it and doesn’t move the timeline marker. I’d rather drag the marker to where I want it, or click above the tracks in the timeline (which is currently possible) in order to move it.

Otherwise, there isn’t a simple way to select the clip I need when my marker is already in the right place, if I have the wrong clip highlighted.

Anyone know if this is possible? I’ve exhausted the menu looking for a solution and haven’t found one.

Hold down the Ctrl key and then click on the desired event.

Eh, I’ve tried that and it only adds that event to my current selction, which means I also have to deselect any already selected events using the same method. This is a bit cumbersome for the speed at which I work. It also means that if I have other clips selected that I can’t see, they remain selected. It’s just not quick enough for me.

The closest thing I’ve found so far is just to zoom way in and to click on the event I want where the marker already is, that way it doesn’t move. That still adds in all sorts of extra steps that I don’t need or want.
