Vegas Pro 10 crawls when any other program opened
I haven’t found any other posts about this so I’m assuming it must be something specific to my system, but does anyone have any info here? I’ve got a dual core Athlon based system (about 5 years old) with I think 4 gigs of ram and Windows XP with the latest service pack. Up until version 10, I was able to run other applications along with Vegas, including and most importantly, image browsers which I used to visually drag and drop images or videos to the timeline in Vegas. All of that worked fine. I use a good deal of resource hungry software and everything else seems to work fine.
With Vegas Pro 10 (and including builds all the way up to the latest “c”), the minute I try to open any other process or even switch to another open window such as a windows explorer window, Vegas seems to grab 100% of the computer and brings it to it’s knees. It still works somewhat, but the computer responds sooooo slow at this point that it can take like 2 minutes to even register a mouse click. If Vegas 10 is opened and run by itself, it seems to function fine (within itself) – it does take forever to load, but it runs fairly smooth once it’s loaded. But do anything other than work in Vegas and it will pretty much lock up the machine to the point I have to end the process from windows Task Manager.
This is definitely Vegas Pro 10 based, as I still had version 8 installed and it showed no problem like this. I’ve uninstalled and re-installed Vegas 10 along with the latest build and the problem persists. The only thing I can see that is any different is that there now appears a process in the task manager called something like “sqlserver” or close to that, and this process grabs a great deal of resources as well as the Vegas exe process. I have to manually end that process after Vegas boggs down as well. I don’t believe it was there with version 8 – or at least I don’t remember seeing it – maybe it was… Any ideas?
