  • Vegas 10 + 60D, smooth edit and playback?

Posted by Todd Kushnir on February 22, 2011 at 1:18 pm

I’ve been told that to edit my 60D footage without using Cineform NeoScene, I need to get Vegas 10, as older versions will require Cineform NeoScene. I have yet to find any credible evidence that this is the case. If even one person can confirm that playback and editing are smooth (ok, using “Preview, Auto”) then I’m ready to buy Vegas 10. If it still requires transcoding, I’ll have to re-consider.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

Download the 30-day trial of Vegas Pro 10c and see for yourself. That is the only way to know how it will perform on your PC with your cameras footage. No guesswork!

Agree with John, Try the trial version 10.0c first.

Definitely download the trial and see for yourself on your machine. I can tell you that I haven’t had any problems in Vegas 10 with 60D 1080p footage, but that’s anecdotal evidence based on relatively minor edits on small jobs using my specific machine which only has 4gb ram and an AMD Phenom II X6 1050T cpu.

I edit with T2i, 5D and 7D footage with SVP 10. It slows only when you add FX on the timeline. I am happy with the upgrade. You can drop files directly into the timeline without having to encode with Mpeg streamclip or Neoscene..

I will be at NAB asking a ton of Vegas questions….:)
