Can´t convert Vegas 10 AVI in Media Coder
Hi everyone, Mynor from UFM Guatemala here.
Im having a trouble with the avi files I export from Vegas 10. I can´t make an mp4 in Media Coder, the file starts to be converted but then it quickly shows me that the convertion ends. The exported file is not complete.
It is strange because if I reconvert that avi file in Vegas 8 and then I put that file in media coder, there is no problem anymore.
I have tried to put the same rendering settings between V8 and V10, but nothing.
Any suggestions?

What template are you using to to export the AVI file?
Is it the same template as you use in Vegas Pro 8?
Why not just export an MP4 file directly from Vegas?

Thank you John. Yes, I have tried with the same template. The reasson we dont use Vegas to convert to MP4 is because Media Coder is quicker to convert the files, and the result is better between quality and weight.
We have been using it around 2 years, and there was no problem about it untill now… I really would like to know if there is a difference between the avi files from each diferent vegas version.
I noticed there is some different parameters in the “Project tab”, but it is not representative, we select Best in video rendering quality. Then the audio settings are the same: PCM Uncompressed, Sample rate 48,000, Bith Depth 16, Channels: Stereo.
In video: Frame rate 29.970 (NTSC), Lower field first, Video Format NTSC DV, Interleave Format: 0.250 and the check is selected in Create an OpenDML…

Yea, very strange especially if the same template works in Vegas 8 on the same PC. You didn’t say which template or if you have changed it from it’s defaults. I would try another template or use another codec to see if that helps (I assume you are using the DV codec now).

Thanks John, the only thing we have changed is the rendering quality to “Best”, then all are the default settings of the Video for windows (*avi) – NTSC DV template are the same.
I also tried to make a reder avi without changing the rendering quality, just using the complete default avi settings, but nothing.
