Frustration continues with Vegas and Boris BCC7.

After installing Windows Home Premium 7 and adding 3 GB of Ram to my system i still run into freeze frame. The image shows what is on the timelines. The dreaded red screen is not generated media. All I did here is add type on text to an empty event and Bam…. dim the lights Waited forever before it finally shut down. I was able to bring up the stats from the task manager. Disappointed that I may have to go out and buy a Fighter jet to replace my Cessna…

Even with the memory add it takes forever and a day. 8GB DDR 2 is not enough?

It could be something to do with your PC configuration. Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card? BCC7 uses OpenGL so it could have something to do with OpenGL initialization (just guessing here). I would download the latest drivers from you graphics card manufacturer and try those. DO NOT use the drivers from the NVIDIA or ATI site directly. Use the drivers that the manufacturer of your card supplies because those have been tested to work with OpenGL. See if it helps the problem.

Thanks John. How would I find who made the card. Would I have to go in the box again or is there anothe way to look it up?

“RUN” dxdiag and it will tell you almost everything about your computer, like display cards, sound devices ect.
If your running Windows 7, RUN doesnt show ip in the start menu anymore. Just type in the box after hitting the start button. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Thanks Danny, Here is what I came up with for the manufacturer.

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE
    Manufacturer: NVIDIA

It has a driver numbers from July of 09. Mfg in May 08

You definitely want to upgrade your drivers, from https://www.nvidia.com-download drivers, and search for geforce 9300, it will guide you from there…

[Danny Hays] “RUN doesnt show ip in the start menu anymore.”

You can re-enable it if you want. here’s how:

    1. Right-click the Start Menu and select Properties
    2. Then on the Start Menu tab press the Customize… button.
    3. Finally check [x] Run command in the list and press OK until you dismiss all the dialog boxes.

You will now have the Run command back! 😉

[Mike Hinkel] “Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 9300 GE
    Manufacturer: NVIDIA”

Unfortunately that’s the mangufacturer I was talking about because NVIDIA doesn’t actually make any cards. The are all OEM. I assume you bought this PC and didn’t build it so you won’t know who made the card (e.g., PNY, ASUS, Gigabyte, etc.) I would check the web site from whoever you bought the PC from for the latest display drivers for your model. If those were the latest, then try Juan’s suggestion of updating the drivers direct from NVIDIA’s site. Hopefully, that should fix the problem.

Thanks John, Danny and Juan. I went to the Nvidia site and got the update for the drivers. There was a lot of updates on it between then and now. I talked to the local computer guru here and he said he saw no problem with going to Nvidia to get them. If worse camr to worse I could go back to a restore point. In the meantime I should freshen up my computer knowledge some to stay on top of it all.

Anyway, it s seems to have helped somewhat. I still wish i could see the previews in real time. I have not tried to repeat what I did when the problem showed. Other commitments took me away for awhile . I’ll report on the results when I get them.

Thanks again. This truly a wonderful forum with truly wonderful people.
