Render Times In DVD Architect 5.2
Hi Folks,
I dont expect anyone to solve my problem but any advice is appreciated. I specialise in weddings and usually produce three hours of footage spread over two dvd’s. The first dvd covers the ceremony and the second speeches and dancing. (broadly speaking).
I have my own custom menus templates set up. I open with a menu that has two options. Play and scene selection. Scene selection gives you a choice of four chapter points and a next option. The buttons are animated. The third menu gives you 4 more chapter points and a back button. There is a 50 second ac3 file as background music which is set to loop.
Today I rendered the footage from vegas. I always set up two regions and render as two pass variable bit rate.
The wedding i was doing today resulted in DVD 1 being 1hr 26min and the second 1hr 17 mins.
I brought the first mpeg into Architect and rendered the DVD in approx 50 minutes.
I then used the same DVD architect file and replaced all the media for the second DVD but this time using the shorter second half of the wedding the render took nearly three hours!
Absolutely no difference between the two renders except for the content. After trying various different combinations I have narrowed it down to this.
If I use the DVD 2 mpeg as the source file for the Button thumbnails it results in this really slow render. If I use the DVD 1 mpeg it renders in less than 50 mins.
I can only assume that Architect is having a hard time rendering the footage from the second dvd as this is dancing etc and probably uses a higher bitrate.
To test this I rerendered the second DVD mpeg as CBR and architect flew through the render.
Now to my question…..
Does Architect really have such a hard time with rendering VBR source for motion menu buttons? If so what can I do?
I did not notice any problems like this with Architect 5.0. Is their a bug in 5.2?
