OK, I watched the tutorial. Did you download the FCP plug-in and install it in FCP?:
Log and Transfer Utility for Apple FCP Version 1.2
What didn’t work?

January 13, 2011 at 8:48 pmI’m gonna take a stab in the dark here, but based on the error message, it is showing Quicktime X as the attempting media player. Quicktime X is a joke with FCP. You either need to reinstall Quicktime 7, or set 7 as the default player for all media. This should help

January 13, 2011 at 9:51 pmI’m also guessing here as I don’t own a Mac but why does it say Quicktime Player at all? It was my impression from reading the Sony XDCAM site that the plug-in was for FCP to ingest the MXF file to the timeline and play within FCP. I don’t believe it’s for general playback with Quicktime Player. Here is the description:
The Log and Transfer plug in software utility for XDCAM EX allows any resolution of current XDCAM EX file to be easily imported within FCP using the standard Log and Transfer interface within FCP.
That looks to be like you can only use it with FCP. Have you tried using the standard Log and Transfer interface from within FCP?

Yep, we’ve tried it all. I’m reading now about Calibrator and MXF4QT Import. Guess the real problem is when you render a .mxf file from Vegas is there is no file structure like there is from the camera and this is whats causing the import problems?

January 13, 2011 at 10:08 pmThe Sony plug-in is to read XDcam, correct? I think the original post is to create a material exchange format file for Final Cut (or any other NLE) to read. I believe the problem is with the way the Mac is defaulting to Quicktime X. Either the Mac doesn’t have Quicktime 7 installed (which is critical for Final Cut to work properly), or Quicktime X is set as the default media app in the Mac.
Final Cut Studio comes with the Pro version of Quicktime 7. You would insert the install disc for FCS and look under optional installs for Quicktime 7. Install it , and make it the default media player for everything.
The Mac should be able to read the mxf file unless the resolution is something very non standard

January 14, 2011 at 5:58 pmOk, the results are:
We found that in Final Cut, the Sony XDcam easy setup settings were not showing up. So we fixed that issue so the sequence would match the render I sent him(Sony XDCAM EX 1080i60 VBR). Also I did re render using xdcam ex 35mbps settings as suggested. Still would not work!
Downloaded the sony log and transfer plug-in. Still did not work!
Downloaded the P2CMU. Still did not work!
One thing that we can’t figure out is the clip is on his desk top, and it doesn’t show any file association with quicktime. So is there a codec missing or something?
Now all this aside I tested sending the 35mbps .mxf file to Adobe Premier and it worked perfect! It wouldn’t recognize the 50mbps file.

January 14, 2011 at 10:17 pm50mbps sure seems like a lot for a 1080i file. Sony EX-1 cameras do 1080@30p at 35mbps. I’m guess that’s not the source of your problem but it did seem odd.
