The Preset manager from Sony is pretty cool, but it only works with effects chain, not render presets. I have made several of my own render presets to render videos for video servers here at Universal. Unfortunatly when I’m not at work and someone needs to do the same, they don’t have my custom presets and have to call me. We have since found a way of transfering render presets to another computer very easily. First make a custom preset with any parameter change, in mp4, wmv and or anyother format you may render to. This will create a folder to store that preset to. Then go to the computer that has the render presets saved in Vegas and copy the files from the new folder to the same folder on the new machine. Here’s a pic of the path for those directores using Windows 7. Here’s an axample of where I made an mp4 preset I made for my Panasonic HDC-TM700 to render 1080 60p mp4s.
I had to make a custom project preset to allow for the 60p, but can’t find where their stored, yet.

You are right Danny. The lack of a Render Preset manager is a problem.

I tried to copy the custom render presets from a PC with Vegas Pro 9 to a PC with Vegas 10. I copied the presets files in the same folder, but Vegas 10 won’t recognize them 🙁

I just verified it works with two machines with Pro 10. I had to show hidden folders on one of them in order to find the folder to copy the preset too. I have Pro 9c on the machine I copied the preset to and it shows up in Pro 9c too. Both are 64 bit. I made a .wmv preset and saved it on one, then copied it to the folder starting with wmv in the file templates folder. Are you sure you copied it to the right folder. I can’t imagine this would be backwards compatible and not forward.

Hi Danny, I tell you what I did:

In Vegas 9 PC (Vista) the MPG1 custom render presets are saved in this folder:

    C:\Users\AleLaura_SM\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates\mpeg1-mc\

In Vegas 10 PC (Windows 7)the MPG1 custom render presets are saved in this folder:

    C:\Users\Edditing\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Render Templates\mpeg1-mc

I copied the custom preset “A – Zone1 for 1280×720 (2 zones).sft2” created in Vegas 9 to the same MPG1 folder in Vegas 10, along with the custom presets created in Vegas 10.

Vegas 10 ‘sees’ the presets created in Vegas 10, but not the presets created in Vegas 9.

I did the same you tried: copied from Vegas 10 to Vegas 9, and it worked.

So it seems the render presets are compatible backward, but not forward (from Vegas 9 to Vegas 10).
